The Answers
| Group | Theme | Words |
|---|---|---|
| 🟡 Yellow | Bodies of water | LAKE, RIVER, OCEAN, POND |
| 🟢 Green | Card games | POKER, RUMMY, HEARTS, BRIDGE |
| 🔵 Blue | ___ fall | WATER, RAIN, NIGHT, PRAT |
| 🟣 Purple | Spring-related | COIL, SEASON, BOUNCE, STEP |
The purple trap: WATER pulls toward bodies of water, but it belongs to the '___ fall' group (waterfall). The trap is keeping WATER, RAIN, NIGHT, PRAT together as words that precede FALL.
How the July 24, 2026 board comes apart
Start with Bodies of water (🟡 yellow). LAKE, RIVER, OCEAN and POND share the most literal link on the board — each one is a plain, dictionary-level example of “Bodies of water”. Bank the safest group first: clearing four tiles early leaves every later decoy fewer places to hide.
Green is Card games (🟢). POKER and RUMMY usually surface first; the test is whether HEARTS and BRIDGE belong to “Card games” just as cleanly. If one of the four feels forced, that word probably serves another group and you are one tile off.
The blue group, ___ fall, tends to need a second pass. WATER, RAIN, NIGHT and PRAT only click once you stop reading each word at surface level and ask what single category could hold all four at once — here, that shared frame is “___ fall”.
Purple is Spring-related: COIL, SEASON, BOUNCE and STEP. Do not hunt for it directly — the “Spring-related” link is built to stay invisible until the easier groups are gone. Solve around it and let the last four tiles confirm themselves.
Why the purple group misleads: WATER pulls toward bodies of water, but it belongs to the '___ fall' group (waterfall). The trap is keeping WATER, RAIN, NIGHT, PRAT together as words that precede FALL. Whenever a word seems to fit two groups, park it and finish the group that has four unambiguous members — the leftover placement resolves itself.
